Khorasan Police Seize 72kg of Heroin, Kill 2 Afghan Bandits

MASHHAD Provincial police personnel in a number of clashes with armed drug traffickers in several cities in this northeastern province killed two Afghan bandits and seized 72kg of heroin in the past two days, the Khorasan Police Department announced here on Sunday.

The police also arrested another Afghan thug who had been wounded in the clashes and seized 27kg of opium and hashish from the armed drug traffickers as well, the department added.

According to the police, the drugs were seized in the cities of Kashmar, Torbat-e Jaam and Taibad.

The statement further said that the Law Enforcement Forces meanwhile succeeded in seizing two Kalashnikovs, one colt, 10 magazines, 125 cartridges and two grenades from the armed bandits as well as rounding up five Iranian nationals collaborating with the thugs.

According to another police report, over the past several hours provincial law Enforcement Forces in the northeastern cities of Torbat-e Heidarieh and Torbat-e Jaam managed to confiscate over 65kg of narcotic drugs, including opium and hashish, from other armed traffickers.

In the latest operations seven armed smugglers were arrested and three cars as well as one cellular phone set belonging to them were impounded, the report pointed out.

According to the report, in the past 24 hours, provincial police personnel also rounded up 46 drug smugglers and distributors as well as 92 addicts in various cities in Khorasan Province.
